Project objective<\/strong><\/p>\n

The intervention concerned the new road connection between Via Aurelia and Via Piave, replacing the historic alignment of Via Trieste, which was interrupted due to the construction of the gate works (buildings and roadworks) serving the new Multipurpose Platform, in order to permanently reconnect the two residual end sections of Via Trieste (seaside side and Carrara Tunnel side), by overpassing the port rail spur, i.e., without traffic interruptions.
\nAncillary activities concerned the environmental management of soils (areas of the former Fornicoke cokerie and former Monteponi foundry), lighting systems, noise mitigation and urban green compensation.<\/p>\n

Main works<\/strong><\/p>\n

Link road Via Aurelia \/ \u201cS16 area\u201d<\/em>
\nApprox. 225 m long, it connects the remaining section of Via Trieste tying into Via Aurelia, up to the new roundabout located to the south-west of the \u201cS16 area\u201d.<\/p>\n

Roundabout \u201cS16 area\u201d<\/em>
\nOuter diameter of the circulatory carriageway equal to 37.0 m (7.0 m lane).<\/p>\n

Embankment ramp<\/em>
\nApprox. 225 m long, it connects the remaining section of Via Trieste tying into Via Aurelia, up to the new roundabout located to the south-west of the \u201cS16 area\u201d.<\/p>\n

Viaduct section<\/em>
\nDesign span (between abutment bearing axes) equal to 105.0 m, consisting of 6 spans of constant length 17.50 m, with a composite steel\u2013concrete section made of steel girders stiffened by cross-beams and connected to an upper composite reinforced-concrete slab.<\/p>\n

Reinforced-concrete approach ramp<\/em>
