Description of the works under design

The construction lot “Isarco undercrossing” constitutes the southernmost end of the Brenner Base Tunnel before entering the Fortezza station area and is located approximately 1 km north of the town of Fortezza, in the Prà di Sopra area, in the Province of Bolzano.

• construction sublot “Preparatory works – Isarco undercrossing”, for which the Executive Design was developed under a separate assignment;
• sublot “Main works – Isarco undercrossing”, which is the subject of this Final Design.

Main works

The works subject to this verification are those related to the sublot “Main works – Isarco undercrossing” and mainly include the following:

Main tunnels

East main tunnel – odd track (excavation and final lining of the natural sections; excavation and rough civil works in the cut-and-cover tunnel sections);

West main tunnel – even track (excavation and final lining of the natural sections; excavation and rough civil works in the cut-and-cover tunnel sections);

The tunnel excavation ends in rock. Portal works are not included in this lot.
