Project objective

The objective of this project is the construction of the new Overpass No. 25 at km 40+187 (crossing point of the A5 Torino–Aosta motorway by Provincial Road SP 222 – Municipality of Banchette), replacing the existing structure, which will be demolished. The bridge consists of two simply supported spans with a composite steel–concrete deck: a main span of 42.50 m (distance between supports) over the motorway carriageway, and a secondary span of 27.85 m (distance between supports) over a local road running parallel to the motorway.

Main works

The new Overpass No. 25 is a two-span simply supported bridge with a composite steel–concrete deck: steel main girders and cross-beams acting compositely with a reinforced-concrete slab connected by studs, ensuring torsional stiffness and durability.
The structure is supported on reinforced-concrete abutments and a central pier founded on foundations designed to safely transfer actions to the ground and to accommodate bearings and joints in accordance with motorway standards. Bridge-edge safety barriers, barrier kerbs, water management (deck waterproofing and drainage), and reinstatement of pavement layers and signage at the tie-ins are included.
The overall intervention is designed for Use Class IV, with solutions consistent with the local geotechnical and seismic framework and with the integration of the new structure within the existing road context.
