SS 1 – Access road network to the Port Hub of Savona – Interconnection between the A10 tollgates of Savona and Albissola and the ports of Savona and Vado – Variant to SS 1 “Aurelia bis” in the section between Savona/Letimbro Stream and Albisola Superiore. Executive Design for completion.

Project objective

The intervention aims to complete the Aurelia bis corridor between the Letimbro node and Albisola Superiore over approximately 5 km, by completing interchanges, viaducts, tunnels, hydraulic works and systems required for full commissioning of the corridor, integrated with the urban and port networks and capable of relieving SS 1, improving travel times, safety and environmental quality. As this is a completion design for an infrastructure already in an advanced construction stage, no substantial changes are introduced compared with what was defined and authorised in previous design phases: the alignment and the horizontal/vertical design data of the main axis and interchanges remain unchanged, except for limited local upgrades aimed at improving safety conditions and ensuring full compliance with the current regulatory framework.

Main works

Letimbro interchange: construction of the new west-side interchange with roundabouts on Corso Ricci, ramps and planimetric/altimetric tie-ins to the main axis, completion of barriers and signage.

La Rusca viaduct: structural and functional finishing works for the Letimbro crossing structure, including restraint systems, deck waterproofing, joints, drainage and associated bank protection works.

Cappuccini, San Paolo, Basci and Grana tunnels: execution of the permanent linings where missing; completion of portals, niches and emergency lay-bys; drainage and water management systems; and upgrading of the technological systems (lighting, ventilation, fire safety) with related plants and emergency equipment.

Miramare interchange: completion of dedicated ramps (G and H), rationalisation of connections with SS 1 and ancillary works (hydraulic and roadway) required for full node functionality and for separating flows to/from the city centre, port and hospital; upgrading of the retaining walls (micropile soldier pile wall) with permanent reinforced-concrete facing and new anchored structures to ensure stiffness and durability.

Grana viaduct: completion and finishing works including pavements, joints, safety barriers and drainage.
Sansobbia / Albisola node (to be completed): widening of the existing Pertini Bridge with a new adjacent structure and related structural and functional works, together with completion of the east-side tie-in with two roundabouts and independent ramps, residual structures to ensure planimetric/altimetric continuity, and final signage/barriers.
