Project objective
The Province of Savona, the Municipality of Albenga and Autostrada dei Fiori S.p.A. agreed on the need to upgrade and improve safety of the system of intersections between the municipal/provincial road network (SP 582 “Colle di S. Bernardo”, SP 453 “Valle Arroscia”, access roads to Leca and Bastia) and the access road network to the Albenga toll station, in order to reduce conflicts and waiting times, improve the absorption of motorway exit/entry flows and enhance local accessibility, without interfering with the riverbed of the Neva Stream.
Main works
A10 toll station / SP 582 node (within the scope of Autostrada dei Fiori S.p.A.)
The project provides for the construction of a new roundabout connecting to the urban road network and the reconfiguration of the roadway platform (category C2), as well as the expansion of the interchange car park from 55 to 140 spaces, with reinforced-earth works and ancillary hydraulic works, including a reinforced-concrete box culvert for crossing the drainage channel and retaining walls serving the embankment/internal ramps.
SP 582 / SP 453 node (within the scope of the Province of Savona)
The project provides for:
- replacement of the traffic lights at the SP 582/SP 453 junction with a roundabout sized to absorb flows from the motorway network, by widening the existing carriageway through reinforced-concrete retaining works;
- upgrading of the Neva Stream bridge by replacing the parapets with prefabricated elements connected by a slab that also acts as load distribution on the existing arch structure; new deck waterproofing; platform reconfiguration to provide the pedestrian path on the downstream side and plant provisions; a supporting “as-is”/“as-built” structural assessment, including seismic conditions using a 3D model, highlighted widespread deterioration of the arches and the need (independent of this intervention) for downstream riverbed arrangements, including restoring a reinforced-concrete weir to prevent scour;
- a mini-roundabout at the SP 453 / Bastia–Cisano road junction.
